When Ellie Barker was barely three years old, her mother was found with a bullet in her head inside an overturned torched Cadillac on Mulholland Drive. No physical evidence, no witness and no apparent motive.

Twenty-five years on, many detectives have tried and failed to get to the bottom of the case.

Desperate for answers, Ellie hires LAPD homicide lieutenant Milo Sturgess, who calls in the expertise of brilliant psychologist Alex Delaware, to investigate.
