Meninga: my life in football. Mal Meninga and Alan Clarkson. 1995.

From an extremely modest beginning in Bundaberg, on the central Queensland coast, Mal Meninga became a rugby league icon, who by the end of his playing career had amassed a collection of records and achievements unmatched in the game’s long and proud history.

The Meninga record includes:

• An unprecedented four Kangaroo tours (including two as captain)
• Most Test appearances by an Australian
• Most points scored in Test rugby league
• Twenty-three Tests as Australian captain
• Most appearances in State of Origin football

In 16 seasons in top-grade football, Mal Meninga never once played  reserve grade. However, the real strength of the Meninga story is not so much the landmarks reached as the manner in which they were achieved.
