Brad ‘Freddy’ Fittler is one of the all-time greats of rugby league. During his career, Brad played for Australia on 34 occasions. Throughout the 1990s he was an inspiration for the NSW Blues in the fierce State of Origin clashes; he remains the most capped NSW player in Origin history. And, always a great club man, he has more than 300 games to his credit for Penrith and Eastern suburbs. In 2002 he captained his beloved Roosters in their Grand Final victory.
But this is more than the story of a great football player. It is the tale of an epic journey from very modest beginnings in Sydney’s western suburbs to the rich, fulfilled life Brad leads today. In Freddy, Brad Fittler reveals much about his life that he has never discussed before.: the times of great difficulty and financial struggle; his relationship with his family; his own occasionally misspent youth, and also what his success means to him.
