In 1969, Derek Ernest Percy was captured after the abduction and murder of a 12-year-old school girl near a lonely beach on Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula. Found not guilty of murder on the grounds of insanity, Percy was detained at the ‘governor’s pleasure’ and remains today as Victoria’s longest serving prisoner deemed too dangerous to be released.
Derek Percy has been linked to several unsolved crimes involving children. Could Percy have been involved in the Wanda Beach Murders, the disappearance of the Beaumont Children, the murders of Allen Redston and Simon Brook, and the disappearance of Linda Stilwell.
Derek Percy: Australian Psycho is the story of Australia’s ultimate ‘cold case’ police investigation. Based on original police files and featuring interviews with many of the detectives currently working on the investigation, Alan J. Whiticker takes you inside ‘Operation Heats’ - the multi-agency investigation into Derek Percy’s possible involvement in several unsolved crimes.
