In 1993, student engineer Jeffrey Gilham lived with his family in a secluded Woronora river frontage home.
On the night of 27 August 1993, the 23-year-old, who slept in the family boatshed, says he heard screams from his mother on the house intercom. He ran to her aid to find his 25-year-old brother Christopher standing over their mother’s body with a lit match. There was a knife on the floor. ‘I’ve just killed Mum and Dad’ said Chris calmly, before setting his mother alight.
Jeffrey said he stabbed Chris sixteen times for killing his parents and left the burning house in the Nick of time. Vital forensic evidence was lost forever in the fire. Other evidence was lost, this time by the police leaving Jeffrey the only witness. Jeffrey copped a five year good behaviour bond for the manslaughter of Chris. He inherited just under one million dollars. But all was not as it seemed.
Jeffrey didn’t count on his Uncle Tony who fought for fifteen years to bring his nephew to justice.
What really did happen that night?
