Worse things happen at sea. William McInnes & Sarah Watt. 2011.

Regular price $10.00

Worse things happen at sea celebrates in words and pictures the wonderful, messy, haphazard nature of family life - bringing babies home from hospital, renovating the house over and over, setting off on holidays, being a friend , a parent, a son, a daughter, and dog obedience training.

William and Sarah take us through their neighbourhood and show us the joy of walking past something every day then suddenly noticing it in a new way: a magpie sitting on a letterbox, the sound of children laughing, even the colour in a tree. Through their own experiences they also remind us that our lives can easily be threatened by illness or misfortune, and that the time will come when we’ll have to say goodbye to the people we love.

But for William and Sarah, life is like picking up a glass that’s half full, never half empty.

No matter how bad things can become, how they might go of the rails, you just have to remind yourself that worse things happen at sea.
